Why independent country houses
A house to yourselves beats a numbered conference suite on a chain hotel mezzanine. The team eats together, stays together and actually talks. Most of these houses take enquiries by phone and email rather than through an instant-book button, so getting comparable prices from several of them usually means a week of back and forth. That is the part we do for you. Midweek and the months either side of winter are also when their diaries are quietest and when away days happen, so the dates you want are often the dates they most want to fill.
What to expect
Do we pay everything upfront?
Each option states its payment and cancellation terms before you choose, so there are no surprises after you commit. Today the platform takes the full amount at booking; deposit-and-balance terms are on the roadmap and will appear on the option when a venue offers them.
What if delegate numbers change?
Where a venue sets attrition terms, they are written on the option before you commit, so you know what happens if 15 becomes 12. If nothing is stated, the platform cancellation policy shown on the option applies.
Are these chains?
Never. Independent houses and independently run estates only, each verified at Companies House before we work with them.
How far from Edinburgh?
Within about two hours, most within one. Far enough that people stay the night, close enough that nobody loses a morning travelling.
What if nothing suits?
We say so rather than pad the list, and keep looking by hand until something does. You owe nothing at any point before you book.
